Waterside Cottage

The Cottage

In the past

Sitting beside the water, just above the waves at one time, the cottage was tucked below the northern cliff, in a sheltered spot with all the available sun. A location that today provides unequalled views of the boats in the harbour, and south across the bay to sea. Views you can enjoy from all room in the property. From a time before the harbour existed, when Mevagissey was only a beach. The seaward wall once made up part of the harbour wall before the East Quay was built. Originally a little smaller, the location there was ideal for work in the fishing industry of that day, to carry out the processing of the fish, mainly pilchard for export, after first being pressed to extract the oil from them. A business still operating well into the 1900's, therafter more modern food processing took the markets.

Present day

You can imagine that the site is ideal for a memorable holiday experience, and today we have it as a holiday cottage letting two doubles and a twin bedded room to guests.

Once you enter the cottage, a couple of steps lead down to a small hallway with coat pegs and two short flights of stairs leading down from it. There are three bedrooms on the top floor, two doubles and a twin bedded room each with a hand basin, and a spacious shower room, w.c. and basin.

The rooms

From the entrance hall one of the flights of stairs leads down to a large bathroom, W.C. and hand basin. The other flight of stairs leads down to the lower floor where there is a another double bedroom to the left.

A new shower room is planned for 2012, and this will complement the other large bathroom, providing good facilities for all.

Lounge

To the right is a living room with comfortable seating set before an attractive Cornish range as a focal point.

Kitchen and dining area

The kitchen has a microwave and a four place dishwasher, along with a large fridge freezer. Ceramic hob cooker, toaster, kettle. etc. All the requirements for your enjoyable stay.

The kitchen is updated each year and we are always making improvements.
